The 2009/10 season opens with The Sleeping Beauty on November 13, 2009. Subscriber tickets for the 2009/10 season will be mailed out the week of August 24, 2009. Tickets for the public will be on sale September 21, 2009.

The National Ballet's newest Principal Dancer is Bridgett Zehr. Ms. Zehr joined the company in 2006 and recently danced the title role in Sir Peter Wright's Giselle and the lead role in the North American premiere of Davide Bombana's Carmen.
Tina Pereira and Jonathan Renna have been promoted to First Soloist; Elena Lobsanova, Noah Long, Jenna Savella, Robert Stephen and Brett van Sickle to Second Soloist; and Ryan Booth, Shino Mori and Brendan Saye have joined the company as members of the Corps de Ballet.

First Soloist Etienne Lavigne and Corps de Ballet member Lise-Marie Jourdain are the winners of the 2009 David Tory Award.
Corps de Ballet members Chelsy Meiss and Christopher Stalzer have been awarded the Patron Award of Merit, donated by the Patrons' Council Committee of The National Ballet of Canada.

Principal Dancer Zdenek Konvalina is performing excerpts from The Nutcracker, Coppélia and Flames of Paris at World Ballet Festival in Tokyo from August 1 - 11, 2009.
New Principal Dancer Bridgett Zehr will join Mr. Konvalina in Taipei to perform Christopher Wheeldon's Prokofiev Pas de Deux and a pas de deux from Coppélia at the International Ballet Star Gala on August 22, 2009.
Principal Dancer Heather Ogden performed with Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie in Breaking Ground on July 25, 2009 at Regent Park in Toronto.
Principal Dancer Zdenek Konvalina performed Seven Greek Dances at Oregon Ballet Theatre's DANCE UNITED Benefit Performance on June 12, 2009.
Best wishes to former First Soloist Christopher Body and Corps de Ballet member Lise-Marie Jourdain who were married in Paris on July 25, 2009.
Principal Dancer Aleksandar Antonijevic and former Principal Dancer Geon van der Wyst announced their wedding engagement. Congratulations!
Lindsay Fischer, Artistic Director, YOU dance/Ballet Master, was in Banff, Alberta for his second year as Director of the Professional Dance Program at The Banff Centre, where the country's most promising dancers participated in the unique summer training program from June 22 - July 26, 2009. Faculty members included Ballet Mistress Mandy-Jayne Richardson and former Second Soloist Je-an Salas.
Second Soloist Alejandra Perez-Gomez and Principal Violist Angela Rudden taught at the National Ballet's Creating Dances Summer Camp that took place at the Walter Carsen Centre in Toronto from June 29 to July 10, 2009.
