Elena Lobsanova and Noah Long Compete for The Erik Bruhn Prize


See the stars of tomorrow shine! Corps de Ballet members Elena Lobsanova and Noah Long will represent The National Ballet of Canada at the Eighth International Competition for The Erik Bruhn Prize on March 18, 2009 at 7:30 pm at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. Competitors from other ballet companies will be announced soon.

New this year is a Choreographic Prize. Each couple will dance an original work for their contemporary piece and a cash prize will be awarded to the choreographer.

The National Ballet: A Blue Chip Investment


There are many ways for your company to invest in the National Ballet. The Corporate Council is open to businesses of all sizes who want to play their part in sustaining dance and ballet in Canada with gifts of up to $10,000. Company News


Corps de Ballet members Juri Hiraoka and Joseph Welbes will perform a duet by Matjash Mrozewski in AKA Dance's White Moon Dance Nights in celebration of the 80th anniversary of Japan-Canada relations at the Young Centre's Michael Young Theatre from February 25 - 28, 2009.

Corps de Ballet member Chelsy Meiss will perform in Romeo and Juliet with San Diego Ballet at the Lyceum Horton Plaza on February 13, 14 & 15, 2009.

Corps de Ballet members Jenna Savella and Robert Stephen performed in Dance Ontario Dance Weekend on January 24 & 25, 2009 at the Fleck Dance Theatre.

In January, we shared the news of two marriages: First Soloist Stacey Shiori Minagawa to Second Soloist Avinoam Silverman and Principal Character Artist Kevin D. Bowles to Natalie Quick. Click here to view images from their weddings.




The 2008/09 season is presented by CTV and The Globe and Mail.

Romeo and Juliet entered the repertoire of The National Ballet of Canada on February 8, 1995 and was totally underwritten by Walter Carsen, O.C.

IN COLOUR by Peter Quanz is a gift from THE VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE, THE NATIONAL BALLET OF CANADA.

World Premiere by Crystal Pite is generously supported by Gail Hutchison.

The Eighth International Competition for The Erik Bruhn Prize is presented by John & Claudine Bailey.
