Biography
Nayara Lopes was born in Tiradentes, Brazil.
She started dancing at age six and trained at the School
of Theatre Dance Guaira in Brazil, American Ballet Theatre’s Jacqueline
Kennedy Onassis in New York City and the Orlando Ballet
School in Florida. She joined The National Ballet of
Canada as an Apprentice in 2011.
As a student, Ms. Lopes danced in The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle,
Carmen, Coppélia, La Bayadère, Napoli
and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
In 2011, Ms. Lopes received second place at the World
Ballet Competition and was awarded the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis scholarship.
She is the recipient of the Mary Day Artistry Award at the Youth America Grand
Prix.
