Biography

Born in Calgary, Alberta, Alexandra MacDonald studied at the International School of Ballet and Boston Ballet’s Trainee programme. In 2007, she became a YOU dance Apprentice and joined The National Ballet of Canada in 2008.

Ms. MacDonald danced in The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, Giselle, Cinderella, The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Onegin, The Four Temperaments, Symphony in C, The Four Seasons, Opus 19/The Dreamer, Glass Pieces and West Side. She performed in the North American premieres of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Carmen.  

In 2010, she was awarded the Patron Award of Merit by the Patron’s Council Committee of The National Ballet of Canada. In 2007, Ms. MacDonald was a finalist in the Youth America Grand Prix and competed in the Prix de Lausanne. She won the Royal Academy of Dance Solo Seal Award in 2006 and was a finalist in the 2006 Genée International Ballet Competition.
