Biography

Rui Huang was born in Shenzhen, China and trained at the Shenzhen Arts School. She joined The National Ballet of Canada as a member of the Corps de Ballet in 2011.  

Ms. Huang’s repertoire with the National Ballet includes Giselle, Romeo and Juliet, The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, La Fille mal gardée, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, The Seagull, The Four Seasons, Emergence and Elite Syncopations. Recently,Ms. Huang danced in the Canadian premiere of Nijinsky by John Neumeier.

Ms. Huang’s repertoire with other companies includes Don Quixote, The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Carmen, Le Corsaire, The Four Temperaments, Rooster and In The Upper Room.

Ms. Huang won the Bronze Medal at the World Ballet Competition in 2009 in Orlando and was a finalist at the Prix de Lausanne in 2005, won the Outstanding Performance Award at The Third CCTV Dance Competition in China in 2005 and won third place at The Ninth Asian Pacific International Ballet Competition and first place at The Seventh National Ballet Competition of China in 2003.
