Xiao Nan Yu Retires with The Merry Widow

Principal Dancer Xiao Nan Yu retires from the stage after 22 brilliant years with The National Ballet of Canada with one of her best-known roles, Hanna Glawari in The Merry Widow. Ms. Yu’s farewell performances take place on Wednesday, June 19 and Saturday June 22 at 7:30. The National Ballet will honour her at the Saturday evening performance.
“I am at the age where I feel I am very confident and I feel like I can own this character because I have lived through some of the same experiences,” says Nan.

The Merry Widow is onstage June 19 – 23, 2019. Xiao Nan Yu will perform the lead role of Hanna Glawari on Wednesday, June 19 and Saturday, June 22 at 7:30 pm. The company will honour Ms. Yu at the Saturday evening performance.
