The Magic Behind the Snow Scene in The Nutcracker

One Snow Queen, two Icicles, 18 Snow Maidens, six Unicorns, 20 young singers and 65 musicians – along with 10 lbs of paper snow – come together to create a brilliant snow storm in The Nutcrackerchoreographed by James Kudelka.
 
First Soloist Alexandra MacDonald talks about bringing the majestic role of the Snow Queen to life onstage, complete with Icicles. Stage Manager Jeff Morris reveals how the National Ballet creates a spectacular blizzard of snow for each and every show.


The Nutcracker is onstage December 12, 2019 – January 4, 2020.
