Esprit de Corps

Fostering Talent

The incredible talent, precision and beauty of a strong Corps de Ballet is immediately recognizable in classic ballets like The Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake. Equally adept in neo-classical and contemporary works, these impressive young dancers are also celebrated for their discipline, stamina and ability to change style and techniques easily and fluently. Comprising half the company, the members of the Corps de Ballet must strive for individual excellence while also working in unison as though moving as one.

"Through Esprit de Corps, I am proud to support the incredible and dedicated artists that make up the Corps de Ballet. Their beautiful and inspiring performances, their versatility, precision and unity never cease to amaze me. It is so rewarding to get to know them as individuals while supporting their artistic growth and development." Linda O'Leary, Chair, Esprit de Corps

“Dancing in the Corps de Ballet, we spend a lot of time perfecting our movement as a group – our timing and ability to stay in line, which takes a special kind of awareness. From one ballet to another, there is quite a bit of variety including different movement quality and a range of characters. In the end, we really do move and even breathe together.”Emma Hawes, First Soloist
