Production Builders
Expanding the Repertoire
Artistic Director Karen Kain has embarked on a considered and wide-ranging plan to expand The National Ballet of Canada's repertoire in concert with today's most visionary choreographers as well as supporters who understand and deeply believe in the importance of developing new work. Like venture capitalists, production supporters and underwriters invest in the talent of a creative team and their desire to explore choreographic and visionary ideas to create a new work of art.
"Being involved with a new production is thrilling. I am able to get real insight into how a new work is created, watching the choreographers and dancers bring all the pieces together. I find it so rewarding." Gail Hutchison, Underwriter, Emergence and The Man in Black
New productions also include the acquisition of international ballets that are of significant importance to Canadian audiences and the artistic development of the National Ballet artists. Capital investment for all new productions through underwriting provides the resources for choreography, music, and costume, set and lighting design.
