Dance About

The National Ballet’s In School Programme

The National Ballet of Canada’s Dance About in school programme began going into schools 50 years ago and has reached over 160,000 students and teachers. It is an opportunity for children from various socio-economic backgrounds and cultures to experience classical ballet in their own environment, making the art form more accessible to them.

The magical world of professional ballet is demystified right before your eyes as your gymnasium becomes the setting for a special ballet performance. Four dancers, a piano accompanist, a narrator and a behind-the-scenes crew highlight the beauty and expression of ballet through a selection of dances straight from the National Ballet’s repertoire. Pointe Shoes, make-up, mime, as well as the exquisite costumes make this a performance not to be missed.
