The first-ever World Ballet Day LIVE took place in 2014. The unprecedented collaboration between The Australian Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, The Royal Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada and San Francisco Ballet gave viewers around the world a behind the scenes look at five of the world’s leading ballet companies. In 2016, the project evolved and was broadcast live on Facebook reaching even more viewers across the globe.
This year, World Ballet Day takes place on Wednesday, November 1. The National Ballet of Canada joins ballet companies around the world for a global celebration of dance. This year’s event includes livestreams from The Australian Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and The Royal Ballet as well as beautiful ballet content from some of the world’s top companies.
Step inside the National Ballet studios with Joan and Jerry Lozinski Artistic Director Hope Muir and choreographer Helen Pickett as our artists prepare for the world premiere of Emma Bovary. Renowned as a “masterful creator of narrative ballet”, Pickett reimagines Flaubert’s famous novel Madame Bovary from the perspective of Emma herself. Don’t miss this opportunity to see dancers of the National Ballet in rehearsal for this highly anticipated new work. Emma Bovary opens the company’s 2023/24 season November 11 – 18 in Toronto.
Join the celebration on our Facebook and Instagram November 1, 2023 at 1:00 pm ET. For the full schedule of participating dance companies, visit worldballetday.com. #WorldBalletDay
