Workshops

Our workshops allow participants to consistently improve in a welcoming, safe and encouraging environment. Our carefully selected Teachers and Accompanists provide the highest standard of dance and fitness education and training.

NEW! Technique Workshop

Take your technique to the next level and work on specific areas of your classical ballet technique in this challenging workshop. Perfect for students that want to develop more strength, artistry and knowledge to their dancing ability. Taught by our experienced In Studio faculty, students will work on such areas as turning, allegro, adagio, musicality. Space will be limited to ensure students receive sufficient individual attention. A minimum of three years consistent ballet class experience is required.

Fall Term
Session One: Friday, September 14 – October 26 (7 weeks): 7 – 8:30 pm
Session Two: Friday, November 2 – December 14 (7 weeks): 7 – 8:30 pm

Introduction to Ballet Level I
For absolute beginners, learn the basics of classical ballet in a welcoming, encouraging environment. Participants will develop technique, musicality and grace while progressing at a steady pace over the session. Registration is required and can be accepted only up to the third class of the session. We encourage participants with no experience to take this workshop before progressing to beginner ballet level I.

Introduction to Ballet Level II
For beginners who have completed Introduction to Ballet Level I, continue learn the basics of classical ballet in a welcoming and encouraging environment. Participants will develop technique, musicality and grace while progressing at a steady pace over the session. Registration is required and can be accepted only up to the third class of the session. We encourage participants with no experience to complete this workshop before progressing to beginner ballet level I.

Introduction to Pointe Level I
Strengthen the ankle, foot and lower leg to promote stability and strength for pointe work. The focus of the workshop will be on properly preparing the feet and ankles, with a minimum of three to four exercises per class on pointe, gradually progressing over the workshop. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to perform slow to medium speed movements on pointe, facing the barre. Registration is required and can be accepted only up to the third class of the session. Participants are required to take the beginner ballet level II class directly before the pointe workshop.

Thursday, September 13 – December 20, 2018: 8:30 – 9:15 pm

Introduction to Pointe Level II
Participants will learn simple exercises facing and sideways to the barre. The focus of this workshop is to strengthen and enhance articulation of the ankles and feet and develop an understanding of proper alignment and technique for pointe work. Registration is required and can be accepted only up to the third class of the session.Participants are required to take the beginner ballet level II class directly before the pointe workshop.

Fall Term
Saturday, September 15 – December 22: 1:15 – 2:00 pm

Introduction to Pointe Level III
Further develop strength and articulation of ankles and feet. Slow, medium and faster tempo exercises will be done facing and sideways to the barre as well as in the centre. Registration is required and can be accepted only up to the third class of the session. Participants are required to take a ballet class directly before the pointe workshop.

Classical Repertoire

Take your love for ballet to a new level in this challenging workshop. Learn excerpts from the world's most beloved classical ballets including The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Giselle and many more. Develop a deeper understanding of musicality, artistry, developing a character and working with others in group sections.

It is recommended participants are at least at a beginner II level to get the most out of this workshop.
