Workshops

Our workshops allow participants to consistently improve in a welcoming, safe and encouraging environment. Our carefully selected Teachers and Accompanists provide the highest standard of dance and fitness education and training.

Introduction to Ballet Level I
For absolute beginners, learn the basics of classical ballet in a welcoming, encouraging environment. Participants will develop technique, musicality and grace while progressing at a steady pace over the session. Registration is required and can be accepted only up to the third class of the session. We encourage participants with no experience to take this workshop before progressing to beginner ballet level I.

Introduction to Ballet Level II
For beginners who have completed Introduction to Ballet Level I, continue learn the basics of classical ballet in a welcoming and encouraging environment. Participants will develop technique, musicality and grace while progressing at a steady pace over the session. Registration is required and can be accepted only up to the third class of the session. We encourage participants with no experience to complete this workshop before progressing to beginner ballet level I.

Saturday, July 7 – September 8, 2018: 11:45 am – 1:15 pm

Introduction to Pointe Level I
Strengthen the ankle, foot and lower leg to promote stability and strength for pointe work. The focus of the workshop will be on properly preparing the feet and ankles, with a minimum of three to four exercises per class on pointe, gradually progressing over the workshop. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to perform slow to medium speed movements on pointe, facing the barre. Registration is required and can be accepted only up to the third class of the session. Participants are required to take the beginner ballet level II class directly before the pointe workshop.

Saturday, July 7 – September 8, 2018: 11:45 am – 1:15 pm

Introduction to Pointe Level II
Participants will learn simple exercises facing and sideways to the barre. The focus of this workshop is to strengthen and enhance articulation of the ankles and feet and develop an understanding of proper alignment and technique for pointe work. Registration is required and can be accepted only up to the third class of the session.Participants are required to take the beginner ballet level II class directly before the pointe workshop.

Will return in Fall Term.

Introduction to Pointe Level III
Further develop strength and articulation of ankles and feet. Slow, medium and faster tempo exercises will be done facing and sideways to the barre as well as in the centre. Registration is required and can be accepted only up to the third class of the session. Participants are required to take a ballet class directly before the pointe workshop.

Summer Term
Thursday, July 5 – September 6, 2018: 8:30 pm – 9:15 pm

Beginner Contemporary 
Drawing on both classical ballet and modern dance, this class explores total body movement. Our contemporary classes include strengthening floor work as well as engaging travelling combinations. This class is recommended for participants with no previous Contemporary dance experience. It is recommended that participants are currently participating in or have previous experience in a beginner ballet class.
