The opening night on December 10 at 7:00 pm will feature Principal Dancers Harrison James and Koto Ishihara in the roles of Peter/The Nutcracker and the Sugar Plum Fairy. The National Ballet has brought the joy of dance to over 100,000 community members for free since 1986 with Share the Magic. The programme returns this season and will continue to provide a unique and memorable experience for those who otherwise would not have access to a live performance. On December 9, 2022, the National Ballet invites 1,500 community members to a special presentation of The Nutcracker. Tickets are distributed to families through community groups and various social service agencies.

The Nutcracker is choreographed by James Kudelka with set and costume designs by Santo Loquasto and lighting design by Jennifer Tipton.
