Biography

Andreea Olteanu was born in Bucharest, Romania and trained at The Ballet School of Romania (formerly George Enescu), Canada’s National Ballet School, Quinte Ballet School in Belleville, Ontario and the Summer Professional Dance Program at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in Alberta. She joined The National Ballet of Canada as a RBC Apprentice in 1998 and became a member of the Corps de Ballet in 1999.

Ms. Olteanu’s repertoire includes Hungarian Princess in Swan Lake and Sheep and Baba in The Nutcracker, as well as roles in Romeo and Juliet, The Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Giselle, Onegin, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Le Petit Prince, The Winter’s Tale, The Taming of the Shrew, La Sylphide, Jewels, Etudes, Les Sylphides, The Firebird, An Italian Straw Hat, Nijinsky, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Seagull, Manon, Carmen, Madame Butterfly, The Four Temperaments, Theme and Variations, Symphony in C, the second detail, The Four Seasons, Glass Pieces, West Side Story Suite, Symphony #9, Carousel (A Dance) and Emergence.

Ms. Olteanu’s film work includes the CBC Television production of Canada: A People’s History, Episode 8 and Bravo! TV’s The Firebird.
