What happens if COVID-19 continues in the fall and there are more cancellations? Will I be able to get a refund?
During these uncertain times we understand that flexibility is paramount and have adjusted our ticket policies. As a subscriber, we guarantee that you if we have to wait longer to return to the stage you will receive your choice of a full refund, an exchange for a future National Ballet performance or a tax receipt for any performance we have to cancel due to COVID-19. We will closely monitor the situation and follow all recommendations from Public Health to keep our audience and artists safe.
Will the Fall Season continue as planned?
We are confident we will return to the stage in November. As announced by Public Health, Ontario is on a good path to flattening the curve and the social distancing policies have been effective. However, we recognize this is a fluid environment and will take guidance from public officials. We will keep our patrons informed with all developments by email and on our social media platforms.
What is the protocol at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts?
The Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts will only re-open when Ontario Public Health has given clear direction that it is safe to do so. At that time, the theatre will continue to carry out strict cleaning and sanitization procedures in accordance with Public Health guidelines and hand sanitizer stations will be also be available for all patrons upon entering the facility.

Why are San Francisco Ballet, MADDADAM and Victoria no longer part of the 2020/21 season?
Unfortunately, the global crisis of COVID-19 meant our international collaborations planned for the 2020/21 season could not proceed. Travel restrictions and lack of rehearsal time necessitated Artistic Director Karen Kain to postpone the world premiere of MADDADDAM to November 2021 and the North American premiere of Victoria to June 2022. The guest appearance by San Francisco Ballet has been postponed to a later date to be announced. We are deeply disappointed to be unable to present these exciting programmes in the 2020/21 season but look forward to presenting them in the following seasons.
What productions are in the revised season?
In updating the season, Ms. Kain endeavoured to present a rich selection of both classical and contemporary ballet to showcase the company’s artistry without depending on international involvement. The Fall Season in November opens with Crystal Pite’s Angels’ Atlas with Serenade and The Four Seasons followed by The Sleeping Beauty. December sees the return of the holiday classic The Nutcracker. The Winter Season in March includes A Streetcar Named Desire, Cinderella and Frame by Frame. The Summer Season in June features the world premiere of Swan Lake, directed and staged by Ms. Kain. Does the new schedule mean I need to start all over again and re-subscribe?
Not at all! Please be assured that your subscription will remain valid for the new season. You should have received an email with your new performance schedule. If you have not received it, please check your junk folder or contact Audience and Donor Services and they will re-send it. All subscribers were also mailed a brochure outlining the revised season.
What is the deadline for seat renewal?
The seat renewal deadline for our Premium and Thursday Afternoon Subscribers has been extended to June 1, 2020.
What are dancers doing right now?
In accordance with Public Health policy and for the safety of our artists and staff, the National Ballet studios and offices are closed and there are no rehearsals taking place at this time. Dancers continue to take class from home and are working hard at staying in shape for the new season. Even though they are not on stage, they are sharing the joy of dance digitally on our social media platforms, from teaching classes, improvising choreography in their backyards and living rooms to sharing recipes in their kitchens.
