Onegin set sketch

Set sketch for Onegin designed by Jürgen Rose (1965).

To this day, John Cranko’s Onegin (1965) with designs by Jürgen Rose continues to be staged by ballet companies around the world. The National Ballet of Canada premiered this production in 1984 to great acclaim. Rose’s set designs are finely detailed and atmospheric and in Onegin, the audience is transported to intimate gatherings in 19th century Russia.
