Biography

Born in France, Lise-Marie Jourdain trained at l'École de Danse de l'Opéra National de Paris under the directorship of Claude Bessy, and then joined Le Ballet de l’Opera National de Paris where she earned her Diplôme d’Etât de Professeur de Danse. While dancing in Paris she won the Couples Prize at the Concours International de Danse in 2000. Lise-Marie joined The National Ballet of Canada as a Corps de Ballet Member in 2002 where she performed a broad range of roles in both the classical and contemporary repertoire. During her time dancing with the company, she received the William Marrié Award in 2007 and the David Tory Award in 2009. Following her retirement from the stage in 2017, Lise-Marie joined the artistic staff at Canada’s National Ballet School where she helped train future generations of dancers and also served as Rehearsal Director for a number of productions, including new creations and remounts of existing repertoire. She joined The National Ballet of Canada’s artistic staff as a Rehearsal Director in 2023.
