Understanding the HST
The Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) is a tax applied to the supply of most goods and services in Ontario. As of July 1, 2010, Ontario’s Provincial Sales Tax (PST) and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) were merged to create the HST. The HST applies to the same base of taxable goods and services as the GST and the HST will be applied at a rate of 13%.
Although the consumer pays the tax, businesses are responsible for collecting and remitting it to the government.
In the past, tickets to cultural events (like ballet) were exempt from the PST; however, the Ontario Ministry of Revenue has ruled that the full HST will apply to any cultural purchase going forward.
For more information on the HST, contact the Ontario Ministry of Revenue at http://www.rev.gov.on.ca/en/ or call at 1 866 ONT-TAXS.

Standing Room Policy
The National Ballet of Canada now offers up to 60 standing room locations, in the back rows of Ring 3 and Ring 4 in the Four Seasons Centre. Each of the locations have a hook and a leaning rail, at a height of 3' 11 1/2".
A standing room ticket is the least expensive way to see ballet, but remember to wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to stand for the entire performance. In consideration of other audience members, please stand as close to the railing as possible and avoid excessive movement during the performance. While there is hook available for each location, the Four Seasons Centre is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
For sightlines, suggested minimum height is 4' 9", portable sitting devices are not permitted and please don't sit on the railings.
$12 standing room tickets go on sale at 11:00 am on the day of a performance and are available for purchase in person only at the Four Seasons Centre Box Office, 145 Queen St. W. Standing room tickets are subject to availability and are limited to two per person.
Latecomers
In the interest of all patrons, latecomers will not be seated until a suitable break. Patrons who wish to leave during a performance will not be allowed to re-enter the theatre until a suitable break.
Child Policy
We welcome children who are old enough to enjoy the National Ballet's performances. A child is considered age 2 to 15, however we recommend that ballet performances are not suitable for most children under 5. All patrons, including children, must have a ticket to enter the theatre; children must be seated beside the accompanying adult.
A child must be able to sit quietly and not disrupt the performance and other patrons. Some of our productions may not be enjoyable for young children. Please ask about the suitability of the performance prior to purchasing a ticket for a child. Children that are unable to sit quietly, and the adult(s) accompanying them, will be asked by an usher to leave the theatre without refund of the ticket purchase.
Babes in arms, or children under 2 years of age will not be admitted to performances.
