Biography

Jack Bertinshaw was born in Sydney, Australia. He trained at Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy in Sydney, Australia and the Tanz Akademie Zürich. Mr. Bertinshaw joined The National Ballet of Canada as a RBC Apprentice in 2011 and joined the Corps de Ballet in 2012.  

Recently, Mr. Bertinshaw danced the role of the Mad Hatter in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and in the Canadian premiere of Nijinsky by John Neumeier. His repertoire also includes The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, The Nutcracker, La Fille mal gardée, The Seagull, Carmen and Theme and Variations.  

Mr. Bertinshaw was awarded the Patron Award of Merit by the Patron’s Council Committee of The National Ballet of Canada in 2013. Mr. Bertinshaw was a finalist at the Prix de Lausanne in 2011. He received the Mary Day Artistry Award at the Youth America Grand Prix and the Silver Medal at the Tanzolymp in 2010.
