Kathryn Hosier was born in Champaign, Illinois and trained at the Champaign-Urbana Ballet Academy in Illinois and Canada’s National Ballet School. She joined The National Ballet of Canada as a RBC Apprentice in 2009 and was promoted to Second Soloist in 2015.
Kathryn’s repertoire includes Principal Fairy and First Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty, First Theme in The Four Temperaments, Twig and The Stepsister in Cinderella, La Rose in Le Petit Prince, the female leads in Spectre de la Rose and No. 24 and a soloist role in Being and Nothingness. She has also danced in Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, The Nutcracker, Onegin, Don Quixote, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, The Winter’s Tale, La Fille mal Gardée, La Sylphide, Nijinsky, Anna Karenina, The Merry Widow, Hamlet, Manon, The Seagull, Pinocchio, A Streetcar Named Desire, West Side Story Suite, Theme and Variations, Opus 19/The Dreamer, Serenade, Symphony in C, Apollo, The Dream, The Four Seasons, The Second Detail, Rubies, Carousel (A Dance), Elite Syncopations, Piano Concerto #1, Genus, Emergence, Angels’ Atlas, Concerto, Paz de la Jolla, Paquita, Frame by Frame and Unearth.
Kathryn received the Peter Dwyer Award as well as the Erik Bruhn Award in 2009 while a student at Canada’s National Ballet School.
