World Ballet Day 2026: How Stories are Made
A global celebration of dance, World Ballet Day returns Thursday, October 29, 2026. This year’s theme explores storytelling, both onstage and behind the scenes, and the preparation that makes creation possible.
Joining ballet companies around the world in sharing special content throughout the day, The National Ballet of Canada will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of The Beginning of Forever by Resident Choreographer David Dawson.
Through in-depth interviews, discover how Dawson creates the space for collaboration and brings a new work to the stage, working alongside composer Peter Gregson, Music Director and Principal Conductor David Briskin and Artistic Director Hope Muir.
The National Ballet will also unveil the premiere of a stunning film of Dawson's internationally celebrated pas de deux On the Nature of Daylight, directed by Derrick Belcham, featuring Principal Dancers Genevieve Penn Nabity and Ben Rudisin.
