Alan Brodie

Lighting designer Alan Brodie’s credits with Crystal Pite include the full-length works Emergence and Plot Point, with companies including Ballett Zürich, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Scottish Ballet and Nederlands Dans Theater. His past work with Ballet BC includes Johan Inger’s Passing, Jiří Pokorný’s A Night Walker and Micaela Taylor’s Salt Conscious. Ontario theatre productions include shows with Canadian Stage, Soulpepper Theatre Company, Canadian Opera Company, Tapestry Opera, more than 15 seasons at Shaw Festival and five seasons at Stratford Festival. Toronto audiences will be most familiar with his lighting for The Overcoat.

Since 2021, Alan has worked as a production manager, most recently with Gateway Theatre in Richmond, BC. Alan has a BFA in design / production from UBC and an MFA in directing from the University of Victoria. He is a member of the Associated Designers of Canada (IATSE local ADC 659) and he is represented by Catalyst TCM
