The 2021/22 season will open with Sharing the Stage, a residency at Harbourfront Centre from August 9 to 29. The programme includes live performances by the National Ballet, presentations of works-in-process from guest companies as well as an outdoor studio with open rehearsals, free dance classes and conversations.
The artists of The National Ballet of Canada light up the Concert Stage at Harbourfront Centre with an exciting selection of classical and contemporary repertoire. The programmes feature a world premiere by Vanesa G. R. Montoya and highlights from our popular Spotlight Series including commissions from Jera Wolfe, Kevin A. Ormsby and Alysa Pires, Apollo, Tarantella, In Time We Trust and excerpts from The Sleeping Beauty and The Dreamers Ever Leave You.
The performances are free but require registration which opens on August 17. Seating is limited and social distancing will be in effect. Audiences can purchase pre-show drinks and dinner from Boxcar Social and rediscover the power of live performance with us!

The National Ballet of Canada is proud to host this summer’s residency programme at Harbourfront Centre’s Boulevard Pavillion to support the local dance community and re-engage audiences with live dance in multiple forms. The residency includes open rehearsals by local dance artists and companies, free dance classes for the public and conversations featuring members of the National Ballet and local dance artists.
On August 28 and 29 at 2:00 pm, guest companies Esie Mensah Creations, Human Body Expression, Little Pear Garden Dance Company and Lua Shayenne Dance Company will share presentations of work completed during the residency on the Concert Stage. The events are free but reservations are required.
