Trygve Cumpston was born in Des Moines, Iowa and trained at the School of Classical Ballet and Dance in Des Moines, Iowa, Orlando Ballet School in Florida and San Francisco Ballet School in California. Trygve joined The National Ballet of Canada as an RBC Apprentice in 2012 and became a member of the Corps de Ballet in 2013.
Trygve’s repertoire includes Benno in Swan Lake, Icicle in The Nutcracker, the title role in Don Quixote, Duke in Giselle, Duchess in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and L'Allumeur in Le Petit Prince. He has also danced roles in The Sleeping Beauty, Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella, Onegin, The Winter’s Tale, Nijinsky, Anna Karenina, Pinocchio, A Streetcar Named Desire, Manon, La Sylphide, MADDADDAM, Frame by Frame, The Dream, The Four Seasons, Serenade, Diamonds, Symphony in C, Allegro Brillante, Opus 19/The Dreamer, The Leaves are Fading, The Concert, Approximate Sonata 2016, Piano Concerto #1, Angels’ Atlas, Suite en Blanc, Concerto, Elite Syncopations, Emma Bovary, Paz de la Jolla, Being and Nothingness, Night, Crepuscular and On Solid Ground.
