Biography
Moisés Martín Cintas is a Spanish dancer and teacher whose career spans major international ballet institutions across Europe and the US. Raised in Zaragoza, Spain, he received his early training at the Municipal Dance School of Zaragoza before continuing his studies at the school of María de Ávila, whose artistic vision and pedagogical approach had a lasting influence on his development, shaping his classical foundation and approach to dance.
In 1997, he joined San Francisco Ballet School under the direction of Lola de Ávila, training with Jorge Esquivel, who was instrumental in the development of his classical technique, partnering and artistic expression. He subsequently joined San Francisco Ballet, where he was promoted to Soloist, before continuing his career with Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam, expanding his experience across both classical and contemporary repertoire.
A significant injury led to an extended break from performing, during which he focused on rehabilitation and movement work through Pilates and the GYROTONIC® Method, developing a deeper understanding of body mechanics and sustainable performance. He later returned to the stage and continued his career as a principal dancer with companies including the Compañía Nacional de Danza in Madrid, Atlanta Ballet and Ballet RI in Providence.
His repertoire includes works by choreographers such as George Balanchine, Kenneth MacMillan, Jerome Robbins, Rudolf Nureyev, Jiří Kylián, Hans van Manen, Rudi van Dantzig, Christopher Wheeldon, Alexei Ratmansky, Wayne McGregor and Dwight Rhoden.
Alongside his performing career, he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Dance Pedagogy and has worked as a teacher, rehearsal director and Head of Elementary Studies at the Escuela Profesional de Danza “Ana Laguna” in Burgos, Spain where he has been involved in the training and development of emerging dancers.
