MAD HOT BALLET Gala Dances Through Time with Bold New Wave Theme

The National Ballet of Canada’s Annual Fundraising Gala Returns June 3
Tickets Now on Sale

April 1, 2025… Vibrant fashion, rebellious energy and boundary-pushing dance take centre stage at The National Ballet of Canada’s annual fundraising gala, MAD HOT BALLET. Hope Muir, Joan and Jerry Lozinski Artistic Director, and Amanda Ram, Interim Executive Director, unveil this year’s bold New Wave theme, celebrating the fearless spirit and creative explosion of the early 80s. The event takes place Tuesday, June 3 at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. Tickets are now on sale.

One of Toronto’s most highly anticipated evenings on the social calendar, MAD HOT BALLET, draws together dance lovers, trendsetters and culture connoisseurs for a one-night-only celebration of ballet – and a healthy dose of fashion. Since 2007, the gala has raised over $17 million in support of the National Ballet’s Community Engagement programmes. This year, the event aims to raise an impressive $1 million in just one unforgettable evening of glam and glitz.

Partygoers will be treated to an exclusive one-hour performance of excerpts and short works by the company’s world-class dancers and artistic staff, including a special presentation of a work by newly appointed Resident Choreographer, David Dawson. Following the performance, guests dressed in their New Wave best will enjoy a stylish themed reception in the lobby on multiple levels in the stunning Four Seasons Centre City Room, while the evening’s VIP guests take to the stage for a private dinner. The event promises to be an iconic night of artistry and fashion.

"We are truly honoured to chair The National Ballet of Canada’s MAD HOT BALLET Gala, Toronto’s most anticipated event of the year. As one of the world’s most celebrated and respected dance companies, the National Ballet is entering an exciting new chapter,” says Suzanne Cohon and Nicholas Mellamphy, Gala Committee Co-Chairs for 2025. “This year’s New Wave theme celebrates the bold and unapologetic creativity of the 1980s, highlighting the company’s fresh repertoire, extraordinary dancers and Hope’s inspiring vision for the future. We can’t wait to bring this theme to life through music, dance, art and fashion, and look forward to hosting an unforgettable evening!"
