The National Ballet of Canada Nominated for Two National Dance Awards in the UK
April 17, 2025... Hope Muir, Joan and Jerry Lozinski Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada, shared today that the company has been nominated for two National Dance Awards by the Critics’ Circle in the UK. The nominations are for Best Classical Choreography for Crystal Pite’s Angels’ Atlas and Outstanding Company for Frontiers: Choreographers of Canada featuring work by James Kudelka, Emma Portner and Pite, performed at Sadler’s Wells in London, UK in October 2024.
“It is a great honour for The National Ballet of Canada to be nominated for two National Dance Awards. The way London audiences embraced the company on its recent Sadler’s Wells engagement was so incredible and to do so with an all-Canadian programme made it even more special,” said Muir.
The nominees were selected by members of the Dance Section of the Critics’ Circle in the UK. The winners will be announced at a ceremony to be held on Monday, June 9 in London.
The National Dance Awards celebrate the vigour and variety of Britain’s thriving dance culture. They are presented by the Dance Section of the Critics’ Circle, which brings together over 60 dance writers and critics. They are the only awards given by the body of professional dance critics in the UK.
