Richard Hudson
Artists of the Ballet in Romeo and Juliet (2013). Photo by Johan Persson.
Hudson found inspiration in early Italian Renaissance paintings, frescoes and architecture as well as the work of Italian surrealist Giorgio de Chirico. According to Hudson, the sets “look Renaissance but they have a modern feel to them.”
Hudson’s set is dramatic in proportion to the dancers and offers a surreal perspective on early Renaissance Verona.
