About the Programme
Hailed as a ‘masterful creator of narrative ballet’, the world premiere of Emma Bovary marks Helen Pickett’s first commission for The National Ballet of Canada. Pickett reimagines Flaubert’s famous novel Madame Bovary from the perspective of Emma herself in this groundbreaking psychological exploration. Emma Bovary is presented with the Canadian premiere of Passion, James Kudelka’s beautifully layered exploration of love, acquired in honour of Principal Dancer Piotr Stanczyk, who retires after an illustrious 25-year career.
