Our drop in classes allow participants to attend classes that are best suited to their schedules. These classes aim to provide students with a challenging and enjoyable learning environment from Canada’s finest dance artists.
Introduction to Ballet Level I/II
Develop grace, elegance and precision. Classical ballet improves strength, posture, balance and flexibility. This drop in class is geared towards beginner ballet students who have had at least one month of ballet training. Simple exercises will be taught with the emphasis being on understanding classical ballet technique and developing musicality.
Studio 55+: Beginner Ballet
Develop grace, strength, musicality and a deeper appreciation for the art of classical ballet in this workshop designed for participants ages 55 and over. This workshop will provide a safe, welcoming and uplifting environment to learn safe and gentle ballet exercises while becoming a part of the In Studio: Studio 55 + community. Beginners welcome!
Learn from the finest teachers to develop grace, elegance and precision. Ballet is the basis of all dance training and improves strength, posture, balance and flexibility.
Drawing on both classical ballet and modern dance, this class explores total body movement, use of breath and weight and changes in rhythm, speed and direction. Classes begin with a strengthening barre warm up, followed by centre work including jumps and travelling sequences.
A total body workout. Combining barre exercises to strengthen and lengthen the lower body, with light weights and floor exercises to build strength in the upper body and core. No previous dance experience necessary.
Essentrics is a dynamic workout that draws on the flowing movements of tai chi, the strengthening theories of ballet and the healing principles of physiotherapy. This class will simultaneously lengthen and strengthen every muscle in the body, resulting in greater joint mobility and long, lean muscles and leave you feeling balanced and strong!
Fletcher Fusion™ Pilates
Combining the effective strengthening and lengthening techniques of Fletcher Pilates Towelwork®, Floorwork®, and Barrework®, this fusion class will strengthen and tone the body, enhance circulation and overall body awareness. Flowing movement, precision, and creative transitions will give you a total body movement experience.
Ballet based floor exercises will develop strength and mobility as well an understanding of placement and technique. All levels are welcome and no dance experience is necessary.
This class is recommended for participants that have had at least 1-2 years of training on pointe. Barre exercises and centre exercises will be taught. For those who have less than one year of training on pointe wishing to take this class, it is recommended you work in soft ballet shoes, in order to safely prepare and strengthen the lower leg, ankle and foot for pointe work. Participants are required to take ballet class directly before the pointe class.
Take your technique to the next level and work on specific areas of your classical ballet technique in this challenging workshop. Perfect for students that want to develop more strength, artistry and knowledge to their dancing ability. Taught by our experienced In Studio faculty, students will work on such areas as turning, allegro, adagio, musicality. Space will be limited to ensure students receive sufficient individual attention. A minimum of three years consistent ballet class experience or elementary level I is required.
Stretch, Length, Relax
Lengthen tight muscles, calm your body and mind and enjoy a relaxing class devoted to stretching the entire body. Participants MUST attend a Ballet or DanceFit class beforehand as to prevent injury.
Build strength, inside and out, with this total body workout. This hour long class incorporates HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) with strength training for an effective and challenging workout.Lengthen tight muscles, calm your body and mind and enjoy a relaxing class devoted to stretching the entire body.
Strengthen and tone your whole body, focusing on the core, with essential mat exercises. Dynamic and flowing movements help increase flexibility and joint mobility, enhance stability as well as improve body awareness.
